Motivation Or Finding A Reason To Change Your Life`

Today’s post is about motivation, or as I like to say, finding a compelling reason to change your life around. I have attended various workshops over the years, all motivation based, and yes, while I was there I felt I could achieve anything. Sadly after the initial buzz, it soon wore off, and everything stayed the same.

This happened to me for about 15 years, so a long time. I would find the motivation to change, and I would change but for just a little while, then it was back to the same old person, broke, frustrated, angry at the world. Then one day almost 6 years ago, my life changed 180 degrees, first I suffered a spinal problem, which meant I had to use a wheelchair for a while, but now I use a walking stick, and my daughter was born.

So why did my life change? Simple answer, first of all, I could no longer move or even walk without help, which really was a pain in the butt to me, as I always was able to walk and run and play soccer. Secondly, a new life was given to me, now this was not new, as I already had a son, but never saw him due to difficulties with me and his mother.

This time I was determined to make money, but on my terms. So for the next four years I spent money I did not have on the latest product or software that promised to make me cash overnight. Now I was in my 30′s, and to be honest I had run an offline business, so I should have known better than to believe hype, but it goes to show how desperate you become when you have a family to feed.

Fast forward four years, a ruined relationship, and more broke, I had a chance encounter with Ray Johnson, an internet marketer who earns the kind of cash each month that we as marketers dream of. We chatted on facebook for a while and he soon became my mentor. Somehow I knew this time was going to earn me money the right way, especially when he reminded the get rich quick promises are just that, promises without substance. So now with real confidence I threw myself into building my blog, setting up my adswap system, and just building my list.

Again, fast forward from November last year to today, I have now had my first $100 day, granted it’s not 10k per month, or a million dollars, but it is a start, and believe me, you must build a foundation before you begin building the rest of the business. What changed me?

Simple, I found a compelling reason to get off my backside and make money, that reason is my daughter, she inspires me every day with her smile, love and happiness. I thank God for her, as without her I am sure I would not have the same drive to make money online that I do now. Believe me internet marketing is a tough and lonely business, as you stand and fall by your decisions, but, ultimately, it is the most rewarding as well when you get it right.

So would I choose motivation or a reason to change? Simple, find a reason to change, as that reason will inspire you to take the necessary action to build not only your business, but your confidence as well. 1. Hey Paul, great post! I too had nearly a year of buying into all the hype up products that are constantly promoted. After a while I developed thick skin to defend myself from the “shinny object syndrome.”

   I still by products till today but not many. Also the ones I do invest in are ones I have done extensive research on.

   Yes Ray is an inspiration to us all. I actually started looking at this internet marketing thing differently once I got in touch with Ray. We need more marketers like him around.

   Again Congratulations on your first $100 dollar day. I haven’t achieved this yet because I’m busy with creating my products. Also I don’t think I will achieve any income until I start building my list! That is the bottom line. No list = No money! Obviously there is a lot more to earning money from your list, which involves building a relationship with your list. However you still need to get them in your auto-responder FIRST!

   My reasons for getting off my backside are as follows:
   1, I’m tired of working two jobs.
   2, I want more money.
   3, I want more free time to spend with the ones I love

   Will I achieve this if I build a buyers and responsive list I believe I will. Although I haven’t achieved it yet I believe. Why? Because people I’m friends with that are successful in this business are all making huge sums of money. What do all these people have that I haven’t got. Subscribers lists. Also to further back up my belief system is that you yourself Paul have shown it can be done

   So I’m keeping it moving!

   Well done, as you say a lot of products today are overly hyped, and as a result, a lot of people are becoming disillusioned with us internet marketers.

   Thank you for the compliment on my $100 day, as it is a massive breakthrough for anybody, especially if they are affiliates, but as you say, you must have a list, as without that you will not be able to make any money atall, let alone your income that you desire.

   However, on the flip side of the coin, you are developing your own product which in turn, will a.) build you a solid list of buyers, and, b.) you will also be building your reputation.

   Also, I am glad I can be a positive influence on you my friend, remember, I started where you are now, and if I can do it, then without a doubt in my mind, so can you.
